Creating a website can seem like a daunting task, but with the right approach and tools, you can design and launch a site that meets your goals and engages your audience. This workshop takes you through the entire process of building a website, from initial concept to going live.  

Through interactive lessons and hands-on activities, you’ll learn how to define your website’s purpose, structure content effectively, and design a user-friendly interface. You’ll also explore tools for building websites—whether using platforms like WordPress, Squarespace, or no-code solutions—and discover how to integrate essential features like SEO, analytics, and responsive design.  

Key Topics Include:  

Establishing website goals and defining your audience.  

Structuring content and designing intuitive navigation.  

Choosing the right platform and tools for your project.  

Designing visually appealing, mobile-friendly pages.  

Optimizing for search engines and integrating analytics.  

Preparing your site for launch and ongoing maintenance.  

Whether you’re a small business owner, entrepreneur, or aspiring web designer, this workshop equips you with the skills to create a functional, professional, and impactful website that stands out in today’s digital landscape. 

Previous experience is not required to take this course. Those who complete the course will earn a certificate from WSU Tech. This course will not qualify for-credit, for degree seeking students. 

Faculty Bio: 
Krissy Buck 
 
Krissy Buck is a dedicated advocate for creating inclusive online and in-person communities. As the Program Director of ShockStarter, a student-led digital marketing agency, and as an educator at WSU Tech, she empowers her students with the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage digital marketing for meaningful connections with their audiences and brands. 

 With a proven track record, Krissy previously served as the Chief Community Officer at QuiCC, a tech startup based in Wichita. During her time there, she successfully expanded QuiCC's user base to 77 countries in just ten months. 

 In addition to her professional roles, Krissy is the vice chair of Digital Wichita. This nonprofit organization educates Wichita's marketing and business community on the latest trends in digital marketing. Digital Wichita also hosts Social Media Day Wichita.
